On Sunday 15 June, we will operate with the theme of the Hyvinkää-Karkkila railway. The heritage train is pulled by the Museum Railway's faithful steam locomotive Sohvi from 1917. Sohvi operated from Hyvinkää to Karkkila between 1918 and 1967. The heritage train will also have a freight wagon and two passenger wagons from the same railway.

The Hyvinkää-Karkkila railway operated for over 55 years from 1912 to 1967 from Karkkila to Hyvinkää, where it had a connection to the Finnish State railway network. The railway was built for the needs of the Högfors ironworks in Karkkila. Passenger trains ran on the railway until 1961 and it was the last narrow-gauge railway in Finland to operate passenger trains.
You can ride the Karkkila steam train as follows:
- From Jokioinen you can get to Minkiö (and further to Jokioinen) and back with a train departing at 11.45 (return 14.19)
- From Humppila you can get to Minkiö (and further to Jokioinen) and back with a train departing at 10.30 (return 12.48) or train departing at 13.05 (return 15.38)
- From Minkiö you can take a round trip train to Humppila at 9.50 (return 10.53), to Jokioinen at 11.10 (return 12.04), to Humppila at 12.25 (return at 13.28), to Jokioinen at 14.00 (return at 14.54) and the last time to Humppila at 15:15 (return at 16.13).
You can find all the timetables on the Ride Hyvinkää - Karkkila Railway steam train page.

The new website of the Jokioinen Museum Railway has now been published. At the same time, the events and schedules for summer 2025 were also published. The website also contains information for tourists and of course the old familiar Jokioinen Museum Railway shop.
This news section will be updated with news from the Museum Railway. Information about summer events can be found in the event calendar. Later in the spring, the opening hours of the Minkiö café, hand car rental and the opening times of the narrow-gauge museum can also be found on the website.
The website also has a comprehensive overview for group travelers. You can rent a steam train for your group, or if your budget is smaller, you can travel on your own diesel train or bring your group on scheduled trains. In this case, you can reserve your own carriage for your group.
In addition, café and lunch services are available for groups, and the meeting room at the Kiipu village hall next to Minkiö station can be rented for group use.
You can come on a hand car trip with a group or even just with your family or friends. Riding a hand car is also possible alone, although in that case you have to pump for two people. The new pages contain instructions for hand car rental for individuals and groups. People renting hand cars can also stop at the Santavaihte fireplace and also stay overnight at the lean-to shelter.
Welcome to our new website and, in the summer, of course, to take a nostalgic steam train ride through beautiful rural landscapes of Southwest Häme!

Christmas is approaching and it's time again for the traditional Museum Jokioinen Museum Railway Christmas card. The Christmas card is again made by PTJ Koskinen, one of the steam locomotive drivers of the museum railway. Like always, the card is very relevant.
In 2023, the Jokioinen Museum Railway received a 50,000 euro subsidy from the Parliament's Christmas funds for the renovation of the steam locomotive LWR 6. The money was used to purchase new tubes, superheater elements and valve parts for the locomotive. A few weeks ago, another 20,000 euro Christmas gift came from Parliament, which can be used to replace the tubes and superheater elements of the locomotive.
A big thank you also to everyone who donated to the LWR-6 locomotive renovation project! Donations from private individuals for the locomotive renovation have already reached almost 7,000 euros! Without your great help, the locomotive renovation would not be possible!
In this year's Christmas card, the LWR 6 steam locomotive peeks out from the Minkiö shop and Santa Claus and his elves are bringing new tubes to the shop. The locomotive's smoke box door is already open and the old tubes have apparently been removed. The tubes still need to be fitted in place.

The Museum Railway Association, which maintains the Jokioinen Museum Railway, started a fundraising campaign in the fall of 2023 to raise money to restore and keep the steam locomotive LWR 6, Helga, in running order. Helga, built in 1909, is the oldest Finnish-made locomotive in running order.
As a result of the long-term work of MP Timo Heinonen from Tavastia Proper, the State Finance Committee has today, December 11, granted 20,000 euros for the renovation of the steam locomotive "Helga". This is in addition to the 50,000 euros granted last year for the locomotive's new tubes, flues, valves and superheating units.
The Museum Railway Association is truly grateful for the grant it has received! With the help of the grant, the locomotive's boiler repair can begin this winter.
It is truly wonderful to see that the association's work as a preserver of Finnish cultural and industrial history is appreciated. The unpaid volunteer work of the museum railway staff and various grants make it possible for this unique entity to be preserved as a living museum.
